Not only is Jones County near some of the most exciting cities in the country, we have the transportation infrastructure to reach them quickly and safely.
Interstate 59 bisects Jones County along its route from Tennessee to Louisiana, where it connects with other portions of the interstate system at both termini (it’s also the route for the I59MS Technology Corridor – from Meridian to Stennis Space Center). Officials also continue to build or upgrade other federal and state highways, easing growing traffic patterns and providing safer and quicker routes for travelers.
Jones County enjoys rail service along both its north-south and east-west corridors. Rail service (along with our highway system) gives Jones County industry access to markets and deep water ports in New Orleans, the Mississippi River and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Air passenger and cargo services abound in Jones County. Passengers and shippers have access to Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport (located less than fifteen minutes from Laurel along I-59 in southern Jones County) and national/international airports in Jackson, New Orleans and Gulfport, Mississippi.
