Leadership Jones County

Nearly 500 individuals have participated in Leadership Jones County (LJC) since the first class in 1990. Developed to identify and prepare the community’s future leadership resources, LJC, has provided Jones County with a network of current and emerging leaders who possess the skills and sense of commitment to improve our community. LJC has been a model for many other leadership programs throughout the state. The Jones County Chamber of Commerce and EDA encourage businesses and individuals to become involved in the program in order to learn more about our community, develop their leadership skills and being a part of a group that wants to make Jones County even better.

LJC is made up of a class of no more than 25 men and women representing a diverse cross section of Jones County.  Interested participants between the ages of 21 and 54 who live and/or work in Jones County are eligible to apply.  Nominations and applications are accepted in July. Tuition for the program is $350.00.  A limited number of full/partial scholarships are available to those applicants who fulfill certain requirements.  The program begins in August, with a team building session followed by a two day retreat and concludes in May with a graduation ceremony.  Monthly sessions are scheduled on the first Wednesday of each month in various locations in Jones County and a session at our State Capitol in Jackson. Session topics include quality of life, state and local government, social issues, education, leadership skills training and more.
