Jones County industry is a splendid mix of well-established businesses and promising startups. Wood production and other agricultural concerns have thrived here for over a century – and continue strong to this day. Oil and gas have a strong industrial presence here, as well as poultry with Sanderson Farms, one of the country’s top five chicken processors, headquartered in Jones County.

High technology is now emerging as a potent economic force in Jones County. Recently, The Howard Technology Park opened for occupancy in Ellisville. The park’s 504 acres, anchored by Howard Industries’ manufacturing facility, are available for high tech research, development and production firms, and includes an incubator facility for startups sponsored by Jones County Junior College.

Jones County is also fertile ground for small business and entrepreneurs. Retail stores, service and product suppliers to our larger industries, and self-employed trade and service providers thrive throughout our region. We’re also actively engaged in forging new alliances and strategic partnerships that encourage the formation and relocation of new companies.

There are a lot of reasons why we’re a great place to work and do business. We have a strong labor force with education and training opportunities offered by strong elementary, secondary and college-vocational institutions. We’re working side by side with valued partners like the Mississippi Development Authority, Center Point Energy, Mississippi Power Company, Electric Power Associations of Mississippi and others to create the right economic environment for growth and stability. And, we have the transportation infrastructure in place to facilitate economic growth decades into the future.

Most important, we have a “can-do” spirit here in Jones County, cultivated from over a century and a half of industry, entrepreneurism and technology. If the past is any measure, we’re eager for what the future will bring in economic growth – a future we hope you’ll share with us.
